Our city of Prosser, WA, is located next to the Yakima River in the Yakima Valley. Our lush, verdant valley provides a perfect site for vineyards and other agriculture. We’re a small city, but we have a lot of room to grow. These are a few of the many things we love about our city.

We’re a Safe Place To Live

As a small city of fewer than 6,000 people, we have a very low crime rate. Many cities and towns across our nation are grappling with high or increasing crime. Statistically, we have only a 1 in 51 chance of becoming a victim of crime. This is 16% lower than the US national average, and overall crime has fallen by 4% since last year. Our police department, while small, has enough resources to keep residents and visitors safe.

We’re an Affordable Place To Live

Unlike many big cities that have limited available housing, we have many properties for sale and rent. The average cost of buying your own house is 14% lower in Prosser than the national average, and rents are 27% lower than in the rest of the country. Accommodation costs usually take the largest chunk out of anyone’s salary, so if you live in Prosser you have extra money to save or spend.

In addition to lower accommodation costs, our cost of living is only 95% of the national average, with health, transportation, and utility costs being 20% lower than the rest of the US.

You Can Experience All Four Seasons

It may seem strange to say, but you can experience all the seasons in Prosser, as our seasons are very clearly defined. Spring is rainy but pleasantly warm, and our summers are gloriously hot and long. Fall brings a riot of reds and golds to the leaves in the trees in and around our city, and the cooling breezes hit winter to come. Our winters are cold, but we have less snow than other cities in the Northwest.

We Have Many Amenities

Although we’re a small city, we have access to all the amenities you need. We have a range of stores available from groceries to furnishings to hairdressers and other services. If our stores don’t have something in stock, Seattle, Spokane, and Portland are all less than three hours away.

We Have a Healthy Lifestyle

Unlike larger cities, we don’t have a problem with air quality. We have industries in our city, but they aren’t concentrated, and they don’t produce the level of pollution experienced by many other cities. Our air is clean, and so are the waters of the Yakima River that flows through our city.

Our city is also compact, and many of our residents can walk almost everywhere they want to go. Bicycles are also very common for short trips in and around our city.
